Is the air conditioning system of your vehicle blowing hot air or not blowing at all?... The air conditioning system can have three different types of issues; mechanical, electrical or refrigerant all of which can have the similar effect, an uncomfortable vehicle interior. The benefit of having a certified technician investigate your vehicle's air conditioning system is to discover where the source of your problem lies.
PAC understands how grueling the Houston heat can be and how important, for both comfort and health, your vehicle's air conditioning is for you and your family. We have the latest EPA compliance equipment to inspect your vehicle's Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning System.
The HVAC system can be divided into two passenger compartment functions. The first function is the heating and the second function is the air cooling system. The air conditioning system's function is to remove heat and moisture from the air which therefore reduces the relative humidity in the passenger compartment. Regardless of which system is in use, the passenger compartment temperature can be adjusted with the air temperature controls. A vehicle's air conditioning system is equipped with filters to remove and prevent dust and pollen particles from entering the passenger compartment.
When a team member of our shop examines your auto A/C you can rest assured knowing a certified professional will be following a step by step procedure to not only determine what exactly the vehicle air conditioning needs, but also why it needs it.
All our automotive air conditioning testing procedures come with a full report of the Air Conditioning testing findings.
The HVAC system's main job is to remove heat and moisture from the cabin compartment to make your vehicle comfortable.
Proper maintenance is key to long term vehicle air conditioning system health.
The procedure entails first cleaning out the air conditioning lines, evaporator and ventilator and then killing any bacteria, mold, or fungi caused by your vehicle's condensation. The air inside your vehicle will be much cleaner and up to 4 to 5 degrees cooler, thanks to increased efficiency.
After this service you will notice:
· Quieter compressor operation
· Extended compressor life
· Sanitized air which can help with the effects of seasonal allergens
Function: Compresses and circulates refrigerant throughout the cooling system. The compressor clutch engages and disengages the compressor (ON/OFF).
Signs of Wear: Lack of or insufficient cooling, excessive clicking sounds or unusual noises when using the A/C system.
Function: A radiator-like unit that cools the refrigerant gas back into a liquid.
Signs of Wear: Reduced cooling capability in the vehicle cabin or physical damage to condenser
Function: The restriction point at which the refrigerant expands and cools.
Signs of Wear: Lack of cooling within the vehicle cabin.
(Vehicles are equipped with either an expansion valve or an orifice tube)
Function: The restriction point at which the refrigerant expands and cools.
Signs of Wear: Lack of cooling within the vehicle cabin.
(Vehicles are equipped with either an expansion valve or orifice tube)
Function: Stores and removes liquid in the refrigerant until it changes into a gas refrigerant.
Signs of Wear: Lack of or insufficient cooling in the vehicle cabin.
Function: Absorbs heat from the cabin air and removes its moisture. (Water is typically visible beneath the vehicle when the A/C system/evaporator has been operating.)
Signs of Wear: Insufficient cooling of the vehicle cabin.
Function: Drives air through the cabin's heating and air conditioning system.
Signs of Wear: Lack of airflow through the cabin vents, unusual noises coming from the blower motor.
Function: A small radiator through which engine coolant flows in order to heat the air entering the cabin.
Signs of Wear: Sweet-smelling vapor coming through the defroster or other cabin vents, insufficient or lack of heat in the cabin.
Function: Protecting the air conditioning system against damage caused by too high or low pressures. There are low pressure switches, high pressure switches and trinary switches.
Signs of Wear: Insufficient cooling performance, frequent switching on and off of the compressor clutch, air conditioning system without function.
Function: The condenser fan helps to ensure the optimal liquefaction of the refrigerant no matter what operating state the vehicle is in.
Signs of Wear: Condenser fans may fail due to electrical or mechanical damage. As a result, the refrigerant is not sufficiently liquefied anymore. The air conditioning system performance is reduced.
Function: To carry the refrigerant from one component to the next. The air conditioning system has a number of different hoses.
Signs of Wear: Lack of cooling within the vehicle cabin, Insufficient cooling performance.
All Air Conditioning Testing is performed by an ASE Certified Technician in HVAC and a full report with findings is provided. Kindly note a vehicle could have multiple problems (not uncommon with age).
This test identifies if a component is mechanically malfunctioning.
This test identifies if a component is having an electrical malfunction.
This test involves the AC Ventilation System directions and inspects for restrictions or malfunctioning with door operation. Testing fee can range due to labor involved.
(There are small doors behind the dash which control the flow of air)
One of the most common problems. 134a is the gas which circulates the system. It is not meant to escape. Vehicles low on refrigerant put an additional strain on other ac components and the most obvious sign is a lack of cooling. During this inspection the technician looks over the mechanical functionalities of the air conditioning system as well as add the necessary refrigerant along with a special oil and dye to help identify the leak. (If it is low it must be leaking from somewhere).
Strongly recommended to kindly schedule reservation in advance. All testing is separate from repairs. We do request a (free) follow up visit for all vehicles undergoing the Full AC Performance Test.
